Overview

The Paralegal provides foundational legal and administrative support to the legal team in managing a broad range of healthcare, corporate, and operational matters for Memorial Health. The Paralegal supports the legal team by assisting with contract review and administration, document review and management, litigation coordination, research tasks, and workflow coordination while developing professional judgment and technical skills.

Qualifications

Education:
• Associate’s degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field required
• Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, legal studies or related field preferred
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
• Paralegal certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Experience:
• 0-2 years of experience in legal, compliance, contracts, or administrative support
• Experience in a healthcare setting or law firm
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with legal team and enterprise stakeholders
• Proficient in Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  1. Format, proofread, and prepare legal documents with a high degree of accuracy, ensuring consistency with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.

  2. Maintain and organize legal files and records, including electronic document management, version control, and secure storage practices.

  3. Support document collection, review, and organization for internal investigations, audits, subpoenas, and litigation matters.

  4. Conduct basic legal and regulatory research, summarize findings, and prepare reference materials for attorney review.

  5. Assist with contract lifecycle activities including intake, preliminary review, tracking, and routing for approval and maintaining contract databases.

  6. Monitor and track key deadlines, such as litigation timelines, contract renewals, regulatory reporting dates, and board-related deliverables.

  7. Assist with preparation of board materials and corporate governance documents, and support corporate recordkeeping as directed.

  8. Provide administrative and operational support to attorneys and senior paralegals, including scheduling, correspondence, and meeting coordination.

  9. Collaborate with cross‑functional partners such as Compliance, Contracts, Human Resources, Information Services, Internal Audit, Privacy, and Risk Management to support enterprise-wide legal needs.
  10. Participate in departmental projects and continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to process optimization, workflow enhancements, and best‑practice development.
  11. Occasional travel to affiliate sites and meetings required.
  12. Performs other related duties as assigned.
