Overview

The Executive Communications Specialist is a primary generator of executive communications materials for the Memorial Health executive team. Under the supervision of the Communications Business Partner for Executive Communications, enables informative, timely and effective communications that support executives in realizing strategies and business goals of Memorial Health System, consistent with Memorial Health System standards of excellence. Ensures executive materials are produced in a timely manner according to plans, and are strategically aligned, efficiently delivered and clearly communicated to stakeholders. Uses best practices for high-performing executive communications professionals that embodies the Memorial Health System values of Safety, Integrity, Quality and Stewardship, in support of our mission, vision and goals.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, writing, business or related field required.
  • Healthcare or hospital system executive or corporate communications experience preferred.

Experience:

  • At least three to five years of experience in internal, corporate or executive communications required.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to serve as a trusted communications advisor to executive team members.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate complex strategies and healthcare topics into digestible, impactful content.
  • Ability to write in multiple voices and tones while maintaining authenticity and clarity.
  • Sound judgment in messaging, tone, and timing, particularly in high-visibility or sensitive situations.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Ability to build and maintain credible relationships with executive leaders.
  • High emotional intelligence and professionalism when working with senior leaders and confidential information.
  • Attention to details and commitment to producing high-quality, polished materials in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to draw information from multiple subject matter experts internally and externally to create content.
  • A commitment to working pre-approved plans, and ability to be flexible to adjust priorities as executive needs evolve.
  • Understanding of reputational risk and compliance considerations in healthcare communications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Power Point, Excel and other programs identified by the department and organization for communications functions.
  • Proficient in all adopted internal communications programs and platforms.

Responsibilities

  1. Supports the Communications Business Partner for Executive Communications, and Director of Internal and External Communications in developing executive communications strategies and relationships.
  2. Drafts, edits and refines executive communications materials including but not limited to speeches, talking points, presentations, reports and key messages for Memorial Health executive team members.
  3. Clearly understands the voice and priorities of the executive leadership team to effectively guide the creation of executive materials that are authentic and carry through a shared Memorial Health leadership voice.
  4. Provides counsel on trending thought leadership topics and drafts, edits and refines materials to showcase the subject matter expertise of Memorial Health executives.
  5. Researches and pursues thought leadership opportunities for senior executives.
  6. Collaborations with other MarComm professionals in marketing, creative services, and analytics to ensure consistent messaging, brand compliance, and message accuracy.
  7. Ensures executive communications are clear, concise, accurate, and aligned with Memorial Health System’s strategic priorities and standards of excellence.
  8. Tailors executive content to diverse Memorial Health audiences, including staff, providers and donors. Adapts tones and message based on platform, purpose and audience expectations.
  9. Contributes to continuous improvement of executive communications processes, templates, and standards, adopting innovative trends.
  10. Supports documentation of processes, team standards and cross-functional workflows. Holds consistent meetings and touchpoints with department managers, team members and business partners to align on workflows, deadlines and to keep work flowing smoothing among the department leads.
  11. Maintains up-to-date records of project status, timelines, and deliverables using adopted team project tracking tools.
  12. Serves as subject matter expert for executive communications functions. Together with MarComm Business Partners, serves as a resource on committees, task forces, meetings and activities to assist the system with achieving strategic objectives.
  13. Maintains professional affiliations as appropriate. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in continuing education, in-service meetings/seminars and workshops.
  14. Performs other related work as required or requested.
