This position is under the direct supervision of the Memorial Medical Center (MMC) Security Operations team, shift supervisor, for the assigned shift.  This position is responsible for assisting the MMC Emergency Department (ED) Security Controller for the protection, safeguarding, safety, and security of assets, property, personnel, patients and all visitors, within the MMC ED and hospital in general.  Perform all appropriate related and unrelated duties, as directed. This is a physical security position.  

Education:
• Must have successfully completed a certified police academy, (PTI or equivalent), 400 plus hour, law enforcement academy.
• Completion of Memorial’s Mandt training within 3 months of hire.
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
• Must be able to maintain any applicable state, county, and municipal licensing and permit requirements for armed police/security work and specific protective device and weapons qualifications.

Experience:
• Must maintain employment with a local municipal, city, county, or state police department, in good standing, and approved for off-duty work utilizing police department equipment (i.e. uniforms, weapon, vehicle (if issued), etc.) Proof of approved off-duty work required before hire.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Maintains proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices, and weapons.

1. Responds to unusual or emergency situations at MMC using the appropriate escalation of force level up to, and including, armed response by following established protocol.

2. Observes and reports activities and incidents, providing for the security and safety of MMC property, staff, patients, and visitors.

3. Makes periodic tours to check for irregularities and inspects security devices.

4. Preserves order and acts to enforce laws, regulations, and directives pertaining to staff, patients, visitors, and premises.

6. Patrols assigned site on foot or in vehicle; checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations.

7. Observes and reports incidents or suspicious activity to MMC Security dispatch or Springfield Police department as appropriate.

8. Prepares logs and reports as required.

9. Complete assigned Computer Based Learning (CBL) modules annually.

10. Performs other related work as required or requested.
