Overview

  • Evening shift, 10am - 7:30pm

The Simulation Technologist supports the design, operation, and maintenance of simulation-based learning environments. This role ensures that healthcare, academic, or technical training simulations run smoothly by managing equipment, software, and scenario execution. The technologist collaborates with colleagues, leaders, faculty, and simulation staff to deliver high-quality, realistic learning experiences.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Associates degree in healthcare field, education, technology, or related field or have 2 years clinical experience.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) within 2 years of hire.

 

Experience:

  • Experience with technology, multimedia, and audio/visual equipment.
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Familiarity with healthcare environments and clinical terminology.
  • Prior exposure to simulation equipment, manikins, or task trainers preferred.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple simulations while meeting performance goals.
  • Organizational skills in planning, coordinating, and executing simulations from start to finish.
  • Strong written and verbal communication across diverse audiences.
  • Adaptability to changing environments and resilience under pressure.
  • Initiative and self-direction in daily operations and continuous improvement.
  • Effective teamwork and relationship management across diverse settings.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving with the ability to provide constructive feedback and recommendations.
  • Basic understanding of anatomy, physiology and pharmacology.
  • Knowledge of safety, compliance, and confidentiality standards in simulation and healthcare education.
  • Technical proficiency in simulation-related software.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for simulation activities when required.

Responsibilities

Simulation Operations

  1. Prepare and set up simulation events, including equipment, manikins, standardized patients, moulage, and supplies.

 

  1. Program, test, and run simulation scenarios and related media/computer equipment.

 

  1. Provide real-time technical support and troubleshooting during simulation sessions.

 

  1. Tear down and reset simulation spaces after events, ensuring proper cleaning and safe disposal of materials.

 

  1. Maintains cleanliness, organization, and readiness of simulation rooms, backstage, and storage areas.

 

Equipment & Technology Management

  1. Conduct daily rounds to monitor facility and equipment needs; submit work orders as needed.

 

  1. Audit, test, and ensure all simulation systems run efficiently; stay current with product updates.

 

  1. Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on simulation and AV equipment; coordinate major repairs with vendors/manufacturers.

 

  1. Receive, set up, and test new simulators and related technology.

 

  1. Assist with inventory control, requisition supplies, and recommend purchases based on usage and needs.

 

  1. Provide training to facilitators in the technical aspects of simulation.

 

Administration & Compliance

 

  1. Follow simulation policies and procedures related to inventory, security, and event operations.

 

  1. Input and manage event data (e.g., attendance) to support reporting and community benefit tracking.

 

  1. Contribute to evaluation of simulation impact and effectiveness.

 

Professional Engagement

 

  1. Serve as a resource on committees, councils, and task forces to advance organizational goals.

 

  1. Participate in community outreach, tours, and public relations activities to promote simulation programs.

 

  1. Act as a change champion by modeling positive behaviors and supporting organizational initiatives.

 

  1. Pursue professional growth through continuing education, internal and external learning opportunities.

 

  1. Performs other related work as required or requested.
