Performs HVAC maintenance and repair across all areas of Memorial Health System, ensuring work is completed in accordance with established policies, procedures, work order specifications, and relevant codes and regulations.

Education:

• Associates Degree in a mechanical/science related field, HVAC Certification, or completion of an apprenticeship program in HVAC required.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

• Must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license and must be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MHS Fleet Safety Policy (five year MVR will be required).

Experience:

• Four years commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration experience required.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Demonstrated ability to read, understand and apply complex building codes such as NFPA and Joint Commission.
• Must possess routine hand tools used by an HVAC technician.
• Demonstrated ability to apply HVAC theory, read/understand blueprints, and other technical specifications.
• Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of HVAC procedures and safety codes.
• Demonstrated ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for long periods of time.
• Have basic computer knowledge.

1. Establishes work priorities ensuring efficient organization and coordination of activities with installing, testing, troubleshooting and repairing HVAC equipment and appliances per codes and specifications.

2. Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provides access for future maintenance and avoids safety hazards consistent with specifications and building codes.

3. Trouble shoots (electrical and mechanical) A/C units, ice machines, refrigeration units and related equipment, devices and machinery in an effective and efficient manner.

4. Balances ventilation systems and performs chemical testing/treatment for cooling tower and closed cooling and heating water systems in an effective and efficient manner.

5. Repair and troubleshoot DDC and pneumatic controls in an effective and efficient manner.

6. Interacts with patients and Medical Center personnel in a courteous, helpful, cooperative professional manner and follows Code of Conduct of Memorial Medical Center.

7. Maintains appropriate dress and appearance, projecting a positive image of the Medical Center.

8. Follows all safety procedures/policies and maintains effective standards of cleanliness of the Medical Center and its equipment.

9. Knows thoroughly all hospital disaster codes and follows proper procedures immediately.

10. Coordinates assigned work to meet the needs of customers, patients and visitors and ensures customer satisfaction.

11. Demonstrates engagement by assisting with completing division goals.
