Overview

Services offered on 4C include Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis, and Therapeutic Apheresis. Most treatments are performed during normal business hours of 7am to 7pm, however there are treatments provided after hours. The night shift dialysis RN will finish up the treatments from the day and provide any emergent treatments overnight. When dialysis or apheresis services are not needed, the night shift dialysis RN will function in the role of a support RN under the guidance of the house supervisor. Patients may receive dialysis/apheresis in the unit or at the bedside depending on the level of care required. It is important that a RN be proficient in these skills by the end of 8-12 week training. Successful RNs on this unit have been self-starters, team players, had medical/surgical experience, are great with customer service, and exhibit the ability to provide education and care for a complex patient population. In addition to an active Unit Based Council, 4C has four other unit specific workgroups offering staff ample opportunity for involvement in shared leadership. The unit is staffed Monday-Saturday. Staff rotate 24 hour call on Sundays.
