Overview

Perform supervisory duties and coordinate daily activities in the Cath Lab Department.  Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure excellent patient care.  Supervise the Cath Lab Quality Assurance programs.  Monitor operations and quality standards to assure compliance with governmental regulations and meet standards established by accrediting agencies. Coordinate the inventory and billing processes. Provide oversight and supervision of the Cath Lab operations, including supervision of scheduling of patients, follow up and pre-patient work up processes. Qualifications

Education:

Previous physics course work preferred.

 

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

Registered radiographer (ARRT-R) in good standing required.

Active license required in radiography from the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety.

Maintain CPR Certification.

 

Experience:

Five (5) years of experience as a radiology technologist in the Cath Lab with documented skill advancement in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  1. Foster an environment which promotes autonomy, accountability, and teamwork.

 

  1. Provide direction, guidance and leadership to subordinates, such as coaching and counseling when needed.

 

  1. Schedule personnel to assure quality patient care within budget requirements and workload demands.

 

  1. Complete employee performance appraisals providing feedback on annual performance.

 

  1. Interview and select new radiology technologist staff for the Cath Lab department.

 

  1. Ensure adherence to infection control and universal protocol standards.

 

  1. Oversee the quality assurance and risk management program.

 

  1. Participate in staff meetings, educational and in-service events.

 

  1. Attend leadership and other required meetings.

 

  1. Clinical case support for approximately 40% of workload.

 

  1. Assist the Radiologist / technologist with complex procedures and specialty case support.

 

  1. Maintain / demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served at his / her assigned area.

 

  1. Ensure all equipment is maintained properly and safe for use on patients.

 

  1. Monitor the condition of patients while they are in the Cath Lab Department.

 

  1. Evaluate patient preps and make recommendations for change.

 

  1. Maintain all life support equipment in top operating condition.

 

  1. Conduct periodic in-service presentations on Cath Lab equipment.

 

  1. Participate in special committee assignments for the Cath Lab Department and Memorial Medical Center.

 

  1. Maintain active licensure and other certifications required by the department.

 

  1. Orient new technologists, staff, residents, and medical students to the Cath Lab environment.

 

  1. Collaborate with local Radiology Technologist educational programs for internships and recruitment of permanent staff.

 

  1. Maintain an efficient and neat working environment; maintain adequate inventory in area of responsibility.

 

  1. Performs other related work as required or requested.
