Overview

Serves as a project manager, system analyst during design, development, evaluation, accreditation, selection, implementation and ongoing support of all assigned systems in the laboratory. Directly manages the Photography, outpatient storeroom, and courier services. Oversees the lab disbursements, visa card and other financial and IT support for lab services.   

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business-related field is required. Five years’ related laboratory experience in a hospital setting may be considered in lieu of degree.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • Certificate in Project Management or equivalent certification is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in managing small to medium scale projects is required, including budget, project timeline, and team supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise multiple projects at one time is required.
  • Minimum 1-2 years supervisory/demonstrated leadership experience is required.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Broad understanding of computer systems, including hardware, operating systems and data communications is required.
  • Working knowledge of the following software programs is required: Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, In Design, PageMaker, and Photoshop.

Responsibilities

  1. Plans and controls medium to large scale projects including the determination of manpower requirements, scheduling activities, estimating computer resources and preparing cost/benefit analysis.

 

  1. Analyzes statistical and fiscal data as an aid to process improvement for the laboratory Program. Implements improvements in methods, systems, and organization of financial, administrative, and quality improvement processes for lab services.

 

  1. Prepares and pays all Lab monthly bills by sending disbursements to accounting department. Orders and maintains all equipment for clients and Lab Outreach and Pathology Department.

 

  1. Manages the electronic lab testing guide to ensure it is accurate and in compliance with CAP guidelines.

 

  1. Maintains Lab operational budgets and reviews budget items for upcoming fiscal years. Analyzes budget variances and initiates action to manage fluctuations.

 

  1. Administers Supply Ordering system utilizing Lawson, purchasing, and new product requests. Oversees the outpatient storeroom including inventory control and monitoring of supply usage.

 

  1. Educates and supports new and existing CAP requirements for autopsy services of MMC laboratory and changes ensuring that autopsy, transport and reporting guidelines are clear to the client to effectively support practice patterns.

 

  1. Provides support for morgue services.

 

  1. Responsible for the routine interactions and compliance with hazardous materials waste disposal company. Monitors disposal of pathology slides and blocks to ensure compliance with accrediting agency.

 

  1. Coordinate and facilitate new client set up including contract, fee schedule, training and ongoing support. Direct contact for all courier operations including monitoring and customer support and training.

 

  1. Evaluates requests from users for system support. Evaluates vendor software packages to determine effectiveness in meeting users’ needs.

 

  1. Monitors the operation of current software assisting in the resolution of system problems and analyzing possible improvements. Outreach Operations, reference lab software, Rals, and various others.

 

  1. Project lead for new software implementations, upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.

 

  1. Establishes and monitors department procedures, performance evaluations, personnel management, training and competency of all designated department employees.

 

  1. Manages schedules within API, and approves assigned timecards for the entire department. Assists technical managers with timecard edits and approvals. Monitors overtime and productivity including audits for Lab Outreach and Pathology Division.

 

  1. Creates and maintains databases and educational materials in following programs, Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, In Design, PageMaker, Photoshop, and custom databases created at MMC.

 

  1. Performs other related work as required or requested.
