Overview

The Manager of Ambulatory Accounting is responsible for management of the day to day financial operations of Memorial Behavioral Health (MBH), Springfield Residential Services (SRS), Memorial Home Services NFP (MHSvc), Memorial Home Services of Central Illinois, Inc. (MHSCI), Memorial Health Ventures (MHV), Memorial Physician Services (MPS), and Memorial Health Partners (MHP).  Supervise and coordinate general accounting, accounts payable, and cash management for all assigned affiliates. Maintain statistics. Coordinate accounting functions with reimbursement departments. Coordinate and prepare the monthly financial statements for all assigned affiliates.  Assist with the management of contracts. Maintain various detailed financial and variance analyses, budgets, feasibility studies and other financial research projects as required, including grant reporting. Assist with preparation of tax related documents and audit work papers. 

 

**This role is a hybrid opportunity with 2-3 days worked from home per week**

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
  • MBA or Master’s Degree in Accounting or related field preferred but not required

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required

Experience:

  • Minimum of four (4) years accounting experience required, with at least one (1) year supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in a not-for-profit organization preferred.

Responsibilities

  1. Build and maintain a cohesive team. Provides leadership, direction and support for assigned members of the team including onboarding of new colleagues, monthly updates, triaging of work, appropriate staffing levels expectations setting, resource allocation and follow through of assignments. Interprets polices, objectives and operational procedures and represents them in a positive manner. Works to promote/enhance communication and cooperation between Finance staff of affiliated corporations.

  1. Develop and enhance strategic partnerships with various external individuals and groups. Develop and enhance relationships with internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to, SIU Medicine and Springfield Clinic.

 

  1. Prepare and analyze the financial reports and statistics in an accurate and timely manner. Exercises good project management discipline and rigor in managing tasks, deliverables and needed resources. Completes projects within prescribed timeline and effectively utilize financial resources. Ensures all scope changes are evaluated, communicated and approved by the appropriate parties prior to implementation. Coordinate the implementation of new policies and/or changes to existing policies relating to general accounting.

 

  1. In collaboration with Director, Ambulatory Accounting, coordinate and gather statistical/financial information to assist in making budget assumptions. Direct and assist in the preparation of the budgets for all assigned affiliates. Assist in the preparation of the quarterly and annual board meeting presentations.

 

  1. Maintain and reconcile all general ledger accounts on a routine basis. Ensure proper evaluation of receivables on the balance sheet (including establishment of appropriate reserve requirements for third party allowances and bad debts).

 

  1. Compile statistical and financial information as required for administration, regulatory agencies, third party payers and grant reporting. Work closely with reimbursement departments.

 

  1. Ensure record systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards and ensure adherence to state and federal policies, procedures, rules and regulations as applicable.

 

  1. Assist and direct preparation of tax related documents including, but not limited to, sales tax documents for the for-profit companies. Coordinate and prepare for the year end audit by the public accounting firm.

 

  1. Serve as a contributing member of the operation management leadership teams. Prepare and present analysis and recommendations for essential business decisions. Present monthly results.

 

  1. Review and analyze productivity data for clinical staff. Analyze vendor pricing and provide recommendation for the highest cost savings.

 

  1. Assist in execution of physical inventory for Memorial Home Services of Central Illinois retail stores.

 

  1. As requested, provide financial analysis, feasibility studies and financial forecasts in accordance with requested time frames.

 

  1. In conjunction with MHS support staff, analyze the financial impact of proposed or current managed care contracts, and make recommendation and/or decisions as appropriate.

 

  1. Participate in community outreach and networking programs. Participates in local civic organizations and community services, including roles on community, state, and/or national boards of directors whose purpose may be in concert with, or benefit to, MHS.

 

  1. Perform other related work as required or requested.
