Overview

The Construction Field Manager is responsible for the management of construction projects throughout Memorial Health/Springfield Memorial Hospital.  These projects will vary in a large range of capital investments.  The Construction Manager will manage the projects from the early design phase to closure.  The Construction Field Manager will be required to function in a fast pace, team oriented, deadline driven environment while paying close attention to project details, finances, schedules, scope, material delivery and client satisfaction.  Accountable to schedule, oversee and run all construction meetings including design, progress, and utilities outage meetings.  Oversee and manage design teams, contractors, subcontractors, and all parties involved in the construction work.  Accountable for providing accurate and timely financial, time line, reporting information to all levels of administration.  Also, there is a possibility of providing  support and travel to our affiliate hospitals – Decatur Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville Memorial Hospital, Lincoln Memorial Hospital, and Taylorville Memorial Hospital.          

Qualifications

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science or related field or 5-7 years equivalent healthcare construction or commercial construction management experience required.

 

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • ASHE Healthcare Construction Certificate must be obtained prior to or within the first six months of hire. (Note: Information regarding the ASHE Healthcare Construction Certificate may be obtained at: http://www.hospitalconnect.com/).

Must possess valid Illinois driver’s license and must be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MH Fleet Safety Policy (five year MVR will be required).

 

Experience:

Three (3) – five (5) years of project management, supervisory or demonstrated leadership experience required.

 

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong construction knowledge, management, interpersonal relations, and communication skills required.
  • Requires understanding of inspection standards, regulations, and interaction with state agencies and local government.
  • Detailed knowledge of construction including general, mechanical and electrical, reading and interpreting of blueprints, materials acquisition, staffing level scheduling, cost estimating, contract administration, record keeping, etc., is necessary.
  • The ability to coordinate several major activities at once, while analyzing and resolving specific problems, is essential.
  • A working knowledge of PC computer and associated equipment is helpful, along with skills in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project software.
  • Organizational skills are crucial in working with and providing direction to contract superintendents and other contractor personnel, and interacting with medical staff, administrators, and other hospital/clinic personnel, architects, and outside vendors.

Knowledge of NFPA 101, 72, 99, 110 and 1 life safety codes, AIA, ADA, and other specialty healthcare construction codes.
