Overview

Performs according to established procedures a variety of services/duties to maintain the hospital campus in a neat, orderly and sanitary condition; including but not limited to vacuuming, buffing, mopping, general cleaning, move furniture, room set up and any other housekeeping task assigned.

  • High school graduate preferred.  Previous housekeeping experience preferred.

  • Maintains good public relations with all patients, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Job Duties

  • Cleans assigned areas according to established guidelines.
    • Maintains all assigned patient rooms, ancillary, clinical and department areas and public areas in a clean, neat and sanitary manner.
    • Other duties include stripping and making beds.
    • Maintains equipment in a clean condition and demonstrates efficient and safe use of equipment and informs supervisor when repairs are needed
  • Cooperates with co-workers and supervisor.
  • Meets quality standards.
  • Maintains equipment in clean condition and good repair.
  • Follows safety and infection control procedures.
    • Assists in cleaning of emergency spills observed and upon request.
    • Observes and reports the need for repairs to furniture, building, and fixtures for safety to self and others.
    • In case of fire or other internal disaster or community disaster, performs duties as assigned.
  • Maintains knowledge of equipment and chemicals; follows established guidelines for use of both; observes and calls in work order for the repair of equipment
  • Attends meetings, in-services and educational programs.
  • Follow seven step procedure following patient discharges.
    • Follows guidelines for ‘isolation’ patient discharges.
