Overview

Assists in maintaining the safety and security of hospital buildings, grounds, and associated personnel and visitors. Responds to requests from others for assistance with traffic control, parking, escort needs, restricted area and/or access violations, and personal safety. 

 

Full-Time [06:00AM - 02:30PM]

Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

 

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

Must possess valid Illinois driver’s license and must be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MH Fleet Safety Policy (five year MVR will be required).  Must be able to operate automatic shift vehicle.

 

Experience:

Previous experience in a security role, preferably in a hospital setting, is strongly preferred.

 

Possesses excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical demands include walking and standing.

Exposure to weather extremes.

Responsibilities

  • Performs physical and electronic surveillance and monitoring of hospital complex to ensure a safe and secure environment.

 

  • Must be mobile at all times when not stationed at an assigned post, with the exception of shift changes, writing reports, authorized breaks, or at a supervisor’s request, in order to ensure all areas of the hospital are being monitored properly.

 

  • Observes, monitors, and controls the activity of motorized vehicles on hospital property and sites.

 

  • Responds to hospital emergency code requests.

 

 

  • Responds to requests for security intervention as emergency or disruptive situations that occur on Jacksonville Memorial Hospital property.

 

  • Prepares written documentation and/or reports relating to security issues.

 

  • Receives and maintains the security of accounting department and patient valuables; delivers such items to the appropriate recipient as necessary.

 

  • Monitors heliport activity and assists with medical teams and patient transports.

 

  • Responds to requests for visitor/employee escorts to and from approved locations.

 

  • Assists in maintaining control of disruptive patients and visitors as necessary.

 

  • Serves as a back-up for others, especially during times of special needs or staff absences.

 

  • Performs other related work as required or requested.
