Interventional Radiographers provide technological support of the Interventional Radiology suite by performing a variety of Interventional/Neuro-Interventional procedures on patients of all ages. They review scout films and subtraction films for quality and completion and assist Radiologists with contrast media and pharmaceuticals. Interventional Radiographers operate radiographic equipment and controls to produce optimal diagnostic image quality. They also operate non-radiographic equipment, including EKG monitor, patient monitors, pulse oximeter, intra-arterial pressure monitor, oxygen and suction.
No two days look the same for an Interventional Radiographer. They may scrub in on a surgical case, dispense radiation, suture a laceration, operate ultrasound, assist anesthesia, and more! Interventional Radiographers do cutting edge procedures utilizing the latest state-of-the-art technology.
