Provide electrical maintenance and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment to all areas of the facility and off-campus sites and ensures work is performed in accordance with all policies/procedures, work order specifications, and appropriate codes.  Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Courtesy, Quality, and Efficiency that support our mission, vision and values.

Education:

• Associate’s degree in a science/technical field, electrical license/certification, or apprenticeship completion in electricity/electronics required.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

• Must possess valid Illinois driver’s license and must be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MHS Fleet Safety Policy (five year MVR will be required).
• In this position, one will be required to be an OSHA certified forklift operator.  On site and hands on training will be provided by department leader to meet this requirement.  

Experience:

• Four years of commercial electricity/electronics experience is required. 

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of, and ability to apply, electrical theory, National Electric Code, and local building codes.
• Strong computer skills and associated equipment familiarity required.
• Able to respond by onsite presence within 30 minutes of an emergency call during department on-call rotation

1. Installs, tests, troubleshoots and repairs electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances per codes and specifications.

2. Resolves difficult wiring and/or installation problems, determines how best to repair faulty electrical systems and equipment and completes complex work orders.

3. Repairs and installs present electronic systems and equipment as directed to include nursing call systems, intercom systems, paging, communication systems, and fire alarm systems.

4. Observes functioning of installed equipment systems to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement.

6. Plans layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control devices.

7. Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit using appropriate tools. Tests continuity of circuit to insure electrical compatibility and safety of components using testing instructions such as vault OHM meter, meggar, and other test equipment.

8. Isolates defects in electrical circuits, fixtures, and appliances.

9. Installs control and distribution equipment.

10. Performs tasks as assigned through work order system.

11. Responds to miscellaneous calls from hospital staff.

12. Maintain time and material logs required.

13. Provides a safe environment by adhering to all infection control guidelines, hospital policies and procedures, and applicable codes and regulations.

14. Participates in department on-call rotation as necessary.

15. Assists in maintaining the physical plant and grounds when requested.

16. Provides security assistance when requested, such as responding to security issues.
