Overview

Performs all Ultrasound exams.  Is knowledgeable in the operation of equipment and the procedure/protocols for producing high quality images to furnish diagnostic information to radiologist.  Provides quality care for all patients.  Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Schedule

Full Time, Evening Shift

4:00PM-12:30AM

Rotating Weekends

$20,000 Sign-on Bonus! 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Graduate of an Accredited School for Radiologic Technologist, required
  • Graduate of an Accredited Ultrasound Program, preferred

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • ARRT or RDMS, required.
  • IEMA, preferred
  • BLS CPR certification, required

  • Functions effectively in a team oriented environment.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and strong customer service skills.
  • FTE Technologist requires to rotate in an on-call schedule including holidays.
  • Potential exposure to infectious diseases.
  • Requires ability to lift over 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Physical demands include repetitive motions of the hands, walking, standing, and reaching above the head.
  • Physically able to perform the duties as stated above.

  1. The technologist checks the patients’ chart or scripts to be sure the exam ordered by the physician matches the requisition received by the department.
  2. Use independent professional judgment to assure exam will clinically evaluate the given diagnosis. Refer discrepancies to radiologist or ordering physician.
  3. Prepares the room, equipment, medication and secures supplies need to perform the exam and maintain a clean and safe environment for patient. Chooses appropriate transducer and disinfects used medical equipment per policy.
  4. Will adhere to safety standards set forth by the organization in accordance with ACR guidelines.
  5. The technologist will explain the procedure and the function of the equipment to the patient as well as answer any questions the patient may have, will intently review the medical history prior to starting procedure, check patient record for previous pertinent information or procedures, contact radiologist when direction is needed, document appropriate information in the patient record/PACS system.
  6. Performs requested US exams of appropriate regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the organization and the reading radiologist. Observes patient during procedure, reports unusual occurrences and records patients’ condition when necessary.
  7. Lifts, moves, and transports patients via wheelchair or cart when necessary.
  8. Transfers, maintains basic quality assurance issues and recalls images from PACS system.
  9. Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots when appropriate. Reports any need for service or repair to appropriate leadership.
  10. Participates in ongoing QA/QC and process improvement programs.
  11. Assists in providing a safe work environment and is dedicated to providing patient satisfaction.
  12. Maintain continuing education credits in compliance with licensing agency.
  13. Maintains clinical competency.
  14. Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures including, but not limited to, those regarding infection control, hand hygiene, attendance, and appearance.
  15. Performs other duties as required or requested.
